Guest Post: Why I Sew

RENEE-e1394106570964

Today is my last guest post for the Kids Clothes Week blog spring season. I have been looking forward to this for months – the chance to ponder the question – why I sew? Ever since I read the posts of last seasons contributors on this topic, I have been thinking long and hard about how my motivations are the same and different to theirs. Anyway, I’ll see you over at the Kids Clothes Week blog and I’d love to hear how this post resonates with you. I’m seriously proud of this post, I think because the topic is so important to me.

Secondly, it has been very remiss of me not to have posted before now, but I was nominated for a Liebster award a few months ago from Another Sewing Blog – a keen sewing enthusiast from Sydney. Thanks so much!

Here are the questions she asked:

1. What is you favourite make?

Usually the latest one. At the moment it’s definitely this jacket because of the challenge of the Ottobre pattern.

Striped Blazer 2

2. What was the last movie/tv show/play/musical/album you enjoyed?

Ummm, I’m pretty boring in this department because I send so much time sewing. I’ve found that sewing and TV don’t mix so TV watching had to go. Having said that hubby and I are currently watching the last season of Mad Men which is one of my favourite shows of all time.

3. What made you smile today?

Something I got up to today with my daughter and a friend of mine who also sews and blogs. We had such a great time and there were tonnes of smiles – this is a bit of a hint, but I’m going to blog all about it in the next few days….

I’m very grateful to be given this award which acknowledges and supports small blogs – thanks Another Sewing Blog for your encouragement!

  1. Hi Renee,
Thanks for sharing your “Why I Sew” Story. I found it super interesting and I could totally relate. I absolutely agree with the “I sew because I have to” mentality. But what I love most about it is that this “having to” is totally led by my needs and wants. For example, I have to work to pay the bills. But I have to sew, because it’s who I am.
Look forward to seeing your next project 🙂

  2. Thanks Renee for answering my questions! I liked that your favourite make is “usually the latest one” 🙂 Will head over the the KCW blog now to read your post …
